Nothing says a romantic couples’ getaway in Upstate NY quite like a roaring fire—and we’re not just talking about the one in your guest room! The community fire pit at the Inn at Lake Joseph is a great spot to spend some quality time with your partner, or to reconnect with the friends you made at breakfast.
Our outdoor fire pit has been a guest favorite since its installation 15 years ago and can be used year-round. Though it’s more commonly used in the spring or in the summer months, our fire pit is a versatile wood-burning metal cauldron situated on a platform. Eight Adirondack chairs surround the fire pit, making it the perfect destination for a quiet talk or a lively chat with other guests.
The fire pit is typically lit around dusk or after dinner and must be lit by the staff of the Inn at Lake Joseph—but don’t hesitate to ask our staff to light it for you anytime you want! Also, once it’s lit, you’re more than welcome to feed the fire yourself for as long as you’d like.
Feel free to enjoy some fireside drinks or even make a summertime favorite: roasted marshmallows! We do have marshmallows and skewers in the kitchen; and if the bugs become a nuisance, we also have bug spray and wipes at the Lodge. You may even just want to relax and look up at the stars on a cool summer night.
Don’t worry, you won’t stumble around in the dark when you decide it’s time for bed, there are automatic lights in the area to guide you back to your guest room.
