Skiing the Catskills

To some, the only way to experience the rush of a snow-capped mountain is by hopping on a lift and carving a path of fresh powder on your way down. For others, the long, peaceful forest trails experienced through Catskills cross-country skiing is the way to go. Fortunately, the Inn at Lake Joseph places you near both, and is one of the best places to experience cross-country or downhill skiing.

The Inn at Lake Joseph wants every guest to get the most out of the enjoyable outdoor activities that are abundant around the inn, especially during the winter months. A snow-covered Lake Joseph beams with a unique beauty and offers guests an opportunity to experience an idyllic outdoor winter getaway. That’s why we provide cross-country skis, boots, poles, and sleds, all onsite, meaning you’ll never have to leave the property and will have everything you need in order to seize the Catskills right here at the inn!

However, even with an endless amount of adventure around the lake, there are several options for those looking to wander a little bit further from the inn.

Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park is just 20 minutes away and offers skiing and tubing, perfect for the entire family to enjoy. A staple in the Catskills region for decades, Holiday Mountain features 7 trails of varying skill level and certified instructors, all adding up to a great skiing experience.

For a lengthier yet scenic drive of about 2 hours, you can also check out Hunter Mountain, Windham Mountain Resort, and Belleayre Ski Center.

Hunter Mountain offers an award-winning learning center great for adults and kids who are new to skiing or who want to brush up on their skills.

Windham Mountain Resort features 1,600 vertical feet of skiing on 732 acres, with 54 trails.

Equally as impressive is Belleayre Ski Center, which has become a hit with winter sport enthusiasts by offering the Area 51 terrain park, two progression parks, several mogul trails ranging from intermediate to expert bumps, extensive glade skiing and a segregated beginner area.

Whether exploring the inn’s property or venturing to one of the many ski resorts nearby, the Inn at Lake Joseph has you covered!
